Job Description:

Join Creative Assembly and craft deep and detailed games that last, entertaining millions of players across the globe for decades. Creative Assembly is looking for a skilled UI/UX designer to join our talented and motivated UI team working on the Total War franchise at our headquarters in Horsham. This is a unique opportunity to work on our next tentpole feature.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with game designers to iteratively create UI for new features and implement those features.
  • Create accessible and intuitive experiences according to the best industry standards, while pushing the boundaries of UI in games.
  • Prototype and design intuitive, beautiful, and usable interfaces that immerse players and improve their overall experience.
  • Build features from scratch – from initial research to interactive prototypes, in‑game implementation and high‑fidelity mockups.
  • Use data from user tests, surveys and quantitative data gathering to iterate and improve designs.
  • Create high‑quality assets that respect the visual style guide.
  • Design layouts that respect the overall design system and established UX patterns.
  • Provide and maintain technical documentation of the features.
  • Work with outsource partners as required.

Requirements

  • Strong UI/UX design skills – wireframing, interaction design, prototyping, informational hierarchy.
  • Visual design skills – composition, typography, iconography, layout, colour theory.
  • Proficiency in industry‑standard tools such as Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects.
  • Technical knowledge and desire to learn in‑house implementation tools.
  • Attention to detail and passion for quality products.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with ownership & responsibility.
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas effectively.
  • Solid understanding of UX methodologies and how they apply to game design.
  • Team player with ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Ability to adapt to and follow a variety of artistic styles.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Portfolio required – please submit a portfolio as an attachment or link.
  • Hybrid: expectation of 3 days per week (Tuesday‑Thursday) in Horsham studio.

Desirable

  • Interested in why things work, not just what and how.
  • Experience with game production pipelines and tools / one shipped title.
  • Experience in motion design.
  • Understanding of the full range of strategy‑genre games.
  • Deep understanding of Total War games.
  • Knowledge of user research methods.
