Job Overview

The CPU design team delivers high‑performance cores used in data centres, mobile phones, laptops, industrial and automotive applications. The role involves modifying PCBs for power measurements, building test systems, running workloads, and monitoring power and performance to support high‑efficiency cores.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

  • Modify consumer platforms to enable power measurements.
  • Build test systems for power measurement capture.
  • Plan and schedule future testing.
  • Manage test equipment and calibration alongside Lab Management.
  • Conduct routine test system maintenance.
  • Assemble electronic/electrical/electro‑mechanical test system components.
  • Ensure lab compliance with ESD policy and COSHH procedures.
  • Support in‑house board manufacturing team with board modifications and testing when required.

Essential Technical Experience

  • Excellent soldering and PCB assembly rework skills, especially SMT.
  • Experience working in a lab environment.
  • Mechanical assembly at bench level.
  • Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes.
  • Understanding of electronics and semiconductor industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Technical Experience

  • Experience with ESD handling procedures.
  • Experience in test automation.
  • Advanced soldering techniques, e.g., chip reflow.
  • Experience with DAQ equipment.
  • Proficiency in Python programming.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: HNC or equivalent, or NVQ Level3 in a relevant discipline.

Work Experience: 5+ years in basic electrical/electronic engineering, electronics or RF testing, or related work in a lab environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Or Associate’s degree plus 1+ year engineering technician experience.
  • Or high school diploma plus 2+ years engineering technician experience.

Physical Requirements

Frequently transports and installs equipment weighing at least 25lbs.
