We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Technology Engineer to join our Consulting Power, Lighting and Technology team in Birmingham.

The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements including hybrid, part‑time and other flexible patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team providing technically sound engineering solutions.
  • Prepare designs, calculations, drawings and documentation for scheme deliverables that satisfy quality, cost and programme criteria.
  • Identify design risk and hazards and communicate them with Principal Contractors via safety risk management documentation.
  • Oversee junior staff performing similar tasks, taking responsibility for their actions where appropriate.
  • Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attend progress meetings, and respond to queries.
  • Contribute to the preparation of bids and support the firm’s winning function.
  • Drive effective health and safety practices within the team.

What We Want To Hear From You If You Have

  • Developed experience and expertise within the roadside technology field, usually gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of roadside technology design processes and procedures, or on‑road operational and maintenance experience.
  • A ability to produce technically sound engineering solutions that comply with all relevant technical standards and client requirements.
  • Experience in undertaking project‑related tasks associated with health, safety and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Working knowledge and experience of CAD design tools.
  • A can‑do attitude and desire to progress and learn from peers and senior team members.
  • Demonstrable capability to work in a team environment while also being self‑focused and capable of working alone.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
  • A demonstrable commitment to completing the professional review or end‑point assessment, resulting in the award of Incorporated or Chartered status, or an equivalent professional licence.
  • EngTech status is desirable, gained through the professional institution to which the individual is aligned.
