Senior Test Engineer – Manufacturing
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Test Engineer to join our dynamic Manufacturing team.
Salary: Circa £44,000 depending on experience.
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 4‑5 days per week on‑site due to workload classification.

Key Responsibilities
- Test and diagnostics of electrical/electronic sub‑systems and circuit cards during early product lifecycle phases.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing test capability, ensuring programme targets are met to agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
- Support test capability during Design/Development phases from initial concept through Production Readiness Review and release to Operations.
- Introduce test facilities, ensuring configuration control of equipment and facilities before use, and generate supporting test specifications and operator instructions.
- Test electrical/electronic sub‑assemblies and circuit cards, diagnosing production test failures to component level.
- Work closely with Operations, design teams and stakeholders to overcome technical challenges.
- Maintain Test Engineering governance and pursue continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Test Experts and design engineers to implement project test strategy and influence design for testability.
- Compile initial process flows for new product with manufacturing management.
- Create and maintain test documentation for production test equipment.
- Support Process FMEA, ensuring test mitigations are in place.
- Initiate test fixture designs for new product.
- Estimate time required to test new products.
- Assist design engineers in functional and environmental testing of initial prototypes.
Qualifications
- Level 4 or greater in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Aerospace, Mechanical), Physics or Maths.
- Modules in Electronic Principles (digital or analogue) or Electrical Principles.
- Several years experience in related industry/manufacturing.
- Understanding of electrical/electronic measurement and test principles, test equipment and fault diagnosis techniques for sub‑assemblies.
- Experience with manual and automated test equipment, preferably in defence or similar manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning and manufacturing execution systems (e.g. SAP, MES) for recording test activities and generating non‑conformance reports.
- Ability to plan and organise work to prioritise multiple tasks and meet project objectives.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including generation of test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports.
- Analytical, problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Security Clearance and Working Conditions
- British Citizenship only; all successful candidates must undergo HMG BPSS checks and obtain DV clearance.
- Hybrid working: 4‑5 days on site.
