Position Overview
Ameresco provides Project Management and Project Consultancy Services incorporating all elements of a project lifecycle. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer with a low voltage skill set and a Building Services background to focus on building services, commercial energy usage, energy savings, and CO2 emission reduction. You will work mostly on Solar PV, EV charger stations, but also on CHP, refrigeration, Air Source and Ground Source Heat pumps, HVAC, boilers, compressed air, and Wind Turbines schemes.
Responsibilities
- Assessment of existing infrastructure and operations at client sites.
- Electrical systems design including cable sizing, discrimination studies, earthing design, selection of switchgear, transformers, relay panels.
- Produce LV design outputs to BS7671 requirements.
- Specify electrical upgrade works to accommodate new installations, considering available space, layout, cable sizing, routing constraints, and existing infrastructure.
- Generate scope of works to obtain costs and outline design with costed solution.
- Technical write-up to support High Level Assessment (HLA) and Investment Grade Proposals (IGP).
- Scheme design (Front End Design), further definition of conceptual design, finalize scheme selection and development of single line diagrams, plant room layouts, cable routing drawings, and related documentation.
- Load assessments, load schedules and cable sizing.
- Equipment specifications and scopes of work.
- EV Charger station design, cable sizing and equipment selection.
- Provide technical support throughout procurement and construction processes, including production of calculation studies using industry preferred software.
- Assist with DNO applications, site surveying, and AC and DC design for EV charger stations.
- Experience with different types of EV charging schemes, i.e., AC and DC.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in specification, design and implementation of commercial power systems.
- Good understanding of BS767118th Edition regulations relating to the design of electrical systems.
- Experience in electrical design for Solar PV and BESS systems is advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to carry out earthing, harmonics and G99/G98 studies.
- Experience with new electrical supply upgrades, G99/G98 applications.
- Experience installing and designing EV charger stations (AC and DC).
- Experience with higher voltage up to 11kV is advantageous.
