Structural Steel Detailer | Derby, Derbyshire | £45,000 – £55,000 per annum (DOE) | Full time

A leading structural steel and hybrid structures specialist is currently looking for a permanent Structural Steel Detailer to produce 3D fabrication models, GA drawings, and erection drawings using Tekla Structures across hybrid steel, timber, and commercial construction projects in Derbyshire.

Start Date: ASAP. Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per annum (DOE).

Duties

• Produce accurate 3D models, fabrication drawings, GA drawings, and erection drawings using Tekla Structures
• Detail heavy structural steelwork and portal framed buildings to a high standard
• Interpret engineering and architectural drawings and specifications
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, fabrication teams, and site personnel
• Prepare material lists, NC files, and drawing issue packages
• Raise and manage technical queries and RFIs throughout the project lifecycle
• Produce lotting, phasing, and marking plans to suit programme requirements
• Attend internal and external project coordination meetings as required

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience detailing heavy structural steelwork and portal framed buildings
• Minimum 5 years of experience using Tekla Structures
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection processes
• Thorough knowledge of steelwork connections and “Green Book” standards
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
• Experience working on industrial and commercial steelwork projects
• Knowledge of BIM workflows and CNC fabrication output data
• Experience using AutoCAD (2D) desirable but not essential
• Experience detailing timber glulam and CLT advantageous but not essential – training provided
