Join Erewash and West Nottinghamshire Building Consultancy – one of the Midlands’ leading local authority building control services. Erewash Borough Council is on the lookout for a knowledgeable and forward-thinking Building Control Officer to play a key role in delivering expert guidance across a broad range of domestic, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
Responsibilities
- Assess building regulation applications and carry out site inspections
- Contribute to safe, sustainable, and compliant developments across Erewash, Broxtowe, Mansfield, Ashfield and Gedling
- Support demolition licensing and the dangerous structures response service
- Mentor Assistant Building Control Officers and support professional developmentParticipate in out-of-hours emergency standby on a rota basis
Qualifications
- Degree in Building Surveying (or equivalent relevant experience) or HNC/HND in construction and experience as a qualified Building Surveyor
- Ideally corporate membership or working towards corporate membership of CABE, CIOB or RICS
- Willingness (or ability) to achieve LABC Level 6 Competency through assessment and to achieve level 2F validation with the Building Safety Regulator
- Understanding of the Building Act 1984 and the Building Regulations
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to maintaining high service standards
Salary and Benefits
Full time. Salary: Grade G – £39,152 to £42,839 per year (pay award pending) plus standby allowance.
Your usual workplace will be the Town Hall in Long Eaton, but you’ll travel to other sites within our partner authorities when required.
