Crane Maintenance Engineer (internally known as Engineering Technician Grade A)

Salary & Working Hours
£37,533 per annum (35 hours basic) plus shift premium and overtime.
Hours: 12‑hour shifts (6am–6pm or 6pm–6am) on a rotating two‑week schedule: Week 1: 3 shifts; Week 2: 4 shifts. Includes day, night, and weekend shifts.

Role Summary
This is a safety critical position responsible for managing, maintaining and carrying out all engineering activities for Rail Mounted Gantry cranes and plant equipment. The role focuses primarily on electrical work (30/70 split) but also requires mechanical skills as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain designated engineering activities for gantry cranes and plant equipment.
- Ensure business requirements are met and operational availability of assets is maximised.
- Plan, conduct engineering examinations, maintenance events, fault finding, diagnostic checking and repairs according to maintenance instructions and procedures.
- Update and maintain accurate records of maintenance, defect and repair information.
- Utilise Freightliner IT systems relevant to the scope of work.
- Participate in the training and development of new recruits and apprentices.
- Flexibly work within skillset and training, supporting tasks as directed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Electrical apprenticeship or NVQ3 equivalent (or equivalent).
- Experience with DC motor and ABB drives.
- Experience with PLCs – Siemens S7, CODESYS.
- HV switching experience (5500V and 6000V) advantageous.
- Mechanical skillset beneficial.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work at height.
