About the Role

Workday Specialist Vice President at Barclays responsible for the end‑to‑end technology development for defined HR Value Streams / Journeys, within the Global HR Technology service provision. The role partners with HR Journey Owners to pursue a technology roadmap that fully exploits investment in Workday, ServiceNow, and supporting platforms, supporting the transition to an Agile Value / Journey aligned delivery model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve software using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Deliver high‑quality software solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration.
  • Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
  • Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure code reliability and readability.
  • Lead or support the development and implementation of Workday changes, including training and implementation of modules.
  • Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes and deliver continuous improvements.
  • Lead a team or serve as an individual contributor, guiding technical direction and mentoring junior specialists.
  • Advise stakeholders, manage risks, and strengthen controls in relation to the work carried out.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve key business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience training and implementing changes within Workday.
  • Deep knowledge of Workday modules, especially Core HR, Workday Core components, and Workday HCM (employee lifecycle).
  • Experience with Workday HCM Talent development processes.
  • Workday accreditations/certificates, preferably Workday Pro accreditation.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital/technology skills.
  • Knowledge of risk and controls, change and transformation processes.

Location

This role can be based in Glasgow, Northampton, or London.
