Job Description
Purpose of the role – to use innovative data analytics and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from the bank’s data reserves, leveraging these insights to inform strategic decision‑making, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the organisation.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Identify, collect and extract data from internal and external sources.
- Perform data cleaning, wrangling and transformation to ensure quality and suitability for analysis.
- Develop and maintain efficient data pipelines for automated acquisition and processing.
- Design and conduct statistical and machine learning models to analyse patterns, trends and relationships.
- Develop and implement predictive models to forecast future outcomes and identify risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify value‑adding opportunities through data science.
- Advise and influence decision‑making, contribute to policy development and ensure operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate closely with other functions and business divisions.
- Lead teams performing complex tasks, delivering on work that impacts the whole business function.
- Set objectives and coach employees, appraise performance and determine reward outcomes.

- For individual contributors, lead collaborative assignments, guide team members and identify inclusion of other specialisations when needed.
- Identify new directions for assignments and projects, applying cross‑functional methodologies to meet outcomes.

Qualifications
- Proficiency in SAS, Python or similar programming languages.
- Strong knowledge of fraud detection systems.
- Hands‑on experience with large and complex data sets.
- Background in statistics or mathematics, preferably with fraud experience.
- Familiarity with BB Plc businesses.
- Assessment of key critical skills including risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and job‑specific technical skills.
Location
The successful candidate may be based in Glasgow or Northampton.
