Multi Skilled Operative – Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
FM Conway is currently seeking a Multi Skilled Operative to join our Aggregate and Asphalt division to play a key role in supporting operations at our asphalt manufacturing sites. As a Multi Skilled Operative, you will perform a varied role that includes operating the asphalt plant, mobile plant machinery, and coordinating weighbridge functions to ensure smooth and efficient site performance. This is a full time, permanent role based at our Wellingborough site.

With over 15 yearsexperience producing high-quality asphalt, FM Conwayoperatesseven successful asphalt plants across the South of England and is now expanding into the Midlands with our eighth site in Wellingborough.The successful Lead Fitter will join a brand-new team andwill be crucial tosetting up the new plant, helping toestablishengineering standards, siteperformanceand operational success from the very beginning.
Joining ahead of the plant opening in 2027, you will initially work across our existing Southeast sites, receiving full training and structured induction support to understand our operations,systemsand engineering standards.
By the time the new plant opens, you will be fully prepared to lead from day one and playa major roleinestablishinga successful new production site.

The duties of the Multi Skilled Operative role will include:
- Operating the asphalt plant efficiently to ensure optimum use of company resources
- Carrying out all weighbridge functions, including using the company order system and managing delivery schedules
- Operating loading shovels safely and efficiently
- Operating other mobile plant such as telehandlers and skidsteers as required
- Carrying out daily checks and basic maintenance on plant and equipment, reporting defects accurately and promptly
- Maintaining accurate records for weighbridge, production, and mobile plant operations
- Completing daily housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
What skills and experience do you need?
To be considered for this role It is essential that you are a team player, with good communications skills and a full UK driving license. You will be flexible, computer literate and health and safety conscious. Previous experience within a similar role would be desirable.
