  • An interest in building a career as a Software Engineer, up‑skilling on a prestigious enterprise applications development platform.
  • A predicted 2:1 or First University degree is required; students at all degree levels are welcome to apply, but a foundational understanding of traditional programming languages, programming constructs, semantics, and data structures is essential.
  • Successful candidates must have the right to work in the UK un‑sponsored from the start date of the programme. Grayce is not on the UK Border Agency’s sponsor register and cannot sponsor work visas for international applicants.
  • Commuting distance of Bridgend and a desire to remain in the area long‑term. Must be able to be on site a minimum of three days a week.

About The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a global Specialist Insurance firm – headquartered in London and Houston – with a rapidly growing team in Bridgend, Wales. As a Grayce Consultant you will be deployed to the client’s Product Engineering team as a “Pega” Software Engineer on a long‑term career pathway that may lead to full‑time employment after completion of the Grayce Programme.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Gather requirements from senior stakeholders to understand business needs and create user stories.
  • Work effectively as part of agile project teams with Project Managers, Business Analysts, UX Designers, Testers and Product Owners to scope and deliver end‑to‑end projects.
  • Create and manage a case‑management application.
  • Configure the Pega application – case types, data models, UI screens, flows, data transforms, activities and decision rules.
  • Understand core Pega concepts – cases, stages, steps, data pages, transforms, flows and assignments.
  • Learn Pega’s rule resolution and class structure to understand rule selection at runtime.
  • Build case lifecycle workflows using stages and processes, including alternate stages and exception handling.
  • Build UI using sections, layouts, controls, dynamic UI and harnesses.
  • Integrate with external systems using Connect REST, Connect SOAP and data pages as integration layers.
  • Translate user stories into Pega case‑management configurations.
  • Perform unit testing, ensuring compliance with Pega guardrails standards.
  • Prepare rule‑level design notes.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, debugging and optimisation of existing Pega applications, including support for deployments and post‑release checks.
  • Engage in continuous learning through Pega Academy modules and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
