Legal Counsel – Commercial & Privacy

Overview

Jellycat, the creators of original and innovative luxury soft toys, is seeking a talented Legal Counsel – Privacy & Commercial to join our growing global team.

This newly created role is pivotal to our continued expansion and will lead our data privacy function while supporting a broad range of commercial legal matters.

What you’ll do

• Lead global data privacy compliance across GDPR, CCPA, PIPL and more.
• Support commercial contract review and negotiation.
• Advise on privacy risks for e-commerce, marketing, fan engagement, and HR.
• Conduct DPIAs, LIAs, and oversee data processing projects.
• Collaborate with Information Security on breach response and incident management.
• Handle DSARs, regulatory queries, and manage external privacy advisors.

What we’re looking for

• Qualified lawyer with 5+ years PQE.
• Experience in luxury, FMCG, or retail sectors.
• Deep knowledge of global data privacy in consumer-facing businesses.
• Commercially minded, proactive, and collaborative.
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
