Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Group General Manager to ensure facilities are fully utilised and performance expectations are met.
  • Liaise with the GGM to ensure key performance targets and access targets are delivered and action plans are developed and implemented for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Support efficient utilisation of resources and assist in project work as required.
  • Provide management support to the GGM.
  • Provide site‑specific management support to City, Sandwell and Rowley Regis Hospitals.
  • Support the Trust’s demand and capacity analysis to determine the level of services required by the Group in outpatients and inpatients departments.
  • Identify areas for service development, ensuring workforce and job roles reflect clinical requirements and the NHS modernisation agenda.
  • Play an active role in ensuring the Group meets key Trust and Group objectives.

Vision and Leadership

Be highly visible and accessible on a day‑to‑day basis, liaise with full range of clinical and non‑clinical staff, and assist them to contribute to the overall strategic direction of services.

Assist the Group General Manager in implementing the vision and strategy for the Group.

Clarify and project‑manage service developments to achieve key targets and provide regular feedback.

Encourage a climate that allows front‑line staff to question and redefine how their work is undertaken, ensuring ongoing patient‑centred service and cost‑effective use of resources.

Assist with implementing effective communication strategies to support planned organisational change.

Provide project management support, as directed by the Group General Manager, in line with Group plans, to ensure key targets are achieved.

Assist with the development and implementation of service pathways to improve standards of care, address governance issues, and improve efficiency and tariff income.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Significant recent general management experience in the NHS, with responsibility for operational matters including staff management, budgetary responsibility, performance targets, waiting list management and discharge arrangements.
  • Proven experience of service development.
  • Experience of leading projects.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
