We have anopportunity for a Maintenance Engineer/Package Manager tojoin our team on The M6 Routine Operation & Maintenanceproject based near Lockerbie. As a Major Maintenance Engineer youwill be a member of the contract team reporting to the MajorMaintenance Manager

This positionis offered on a Fixed Term Contract until late2027.

Your profile

What will your responsibilitiesbe?

Responsible for organisationand coordination of all logistical operations and procedures forseveral major maintenance contracts, to ensure organisationaleffectiveness, efficiency and safety of the contract.

Responsible for liaison with Autolink and outsideorganisations for major maintenance contracts, including assistingwith structures inspections, maintenance and upgrade schemes. Thiswill involve the management and supervision of various workspackages based on project requirements, which may involvenightshift and / or weekend works.

  • Produce & implement Method Statements, RiskAssessments and Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Carry out site reviews of Major Maintenance Scope ofWorks prior to packages commencing.
  • Ensurethat subcontractors provide proof of up to date, relevant CSCScards and that all plant operatives have up to date, relevant CPCScards appropriate to the plant used on site.
  • Implement ITPs, ensuring that all checks arecompleted on works & hold points & check points are adheredto. All checklists will be signed off by subcontractors & SRMas work progresses. A final check will be completed prior to issueof the checklist to Autolink.
  • Ensure you arefamiliar with the scope of works for each package & activelyparticipate in start-up & progress meetings.
  • Ensure all subcontractors are managed in line with CMSrequirements, minutes of all meetings are recorded timeously inPdrive & all subsequent resulting actions are completedtimeously.
  • Assist in liaising with theEmployer’s Agent, Statutory Undertakers, Emergency Services,Employer’s Specialists, SEPA and other interested Third Parties andidentify any attendance or works that may arise from suchliaison.
  • Assist the Project Manager to collatefor submission to the Client information required forincorporation into the Health and Safety File.
  • Ensure implementation of COSHH.
  • Maintain driver log books & ensure livery ofvehicles is clean and well maintained at all times.
  • It is a core responsibility of all M6 ROM staff toreport any breach of H&S. In the event of this occurring worksmust be stopped immediately & the situation rectified prior toworks recommencing. The situation must be reported to sitemanagement & all relevant paperwork documented as per SRMprocedures at the earliest opportunity.

 

What Skills andKnowledge are essential?

  • Experience in the Highways Maintenance Sector and a goodunderstanding of all relevant processes.
  • Goodknowledge of maintenance products, construction details, relevantregulations and quality standards.
  • Knowledgeof packages including Insight, Highstone, IRIS &SMS.
  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering orHighways related field
  • Relevant ConstructionSkills Certificate Card
