Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) in a business-facing role. As Company Projects Manager you will support the student projects function in LUMS Careers by sourcing, and scoping out, suitable company-based research projects for LUMS students to consult on at Postgraduate and Undergraduate level, including MBA working as part of a wider team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing and scoping suitable company‑based research projects for LUMS students.
  • Supporting the student projects function in LUMS Careers by engaging with businesses across sectors for educational purposes.
  • Scouting and negotiating with business contacts to diagnose business issues and translate them into research projects for students.
  • Working closely with academic colleagues throughout the process.
  • Networking with, and promoting opportunities to senior leaders in blue‑chip firms, including those in the Times Top 100.
  • Managing a blended role with remote work via MS Teams and on‑campus duties, with occasional out‑of‑hours work/travel within the UK, planned and agreed in advance.

Qualifications

  • Confidence and motivation as a self‑starter with sales/business development experience and proven target attainment.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills to engage with businesses across sectors.
  • Ability to diagnose business issues and turn them into research projects for students.
  • Experience working with business contacts at senior levels.
