WSP’s People Movement team is recruiting a Senior or Principal People Movement Consultant to join our growing team. The role can be based from any WSP UK & Ireland office, with hybrid working allowing for a mix of home and in-office working.

About The Role
- As an experienced Pedestrian Modeller you will undertake hands‑on modelling and mentor junior colleagues.
- You will attend and sometimes present at project meetings to key stakeholders and clients, supported by senior staff as needed.
- Proactively interface with other disciplines to obtain design and operational inputs and inform them of passenger flow requirements.
- You may input into and manage project scope, programme, financials and progress.
- Responsible for technical task management and delegation, ensuring checks, reviews and approvals of technical work and reports.

- Researching new technologies and trends in people movement data capture and analytics.
- Staff coaching and training – guiding new starters and improving junior staff through constructive feedback.
- Support team growth by encouraging development from within at all levels.
What We Will Be Looking For
- Excellent pedestrian modelling skills – particularly Bentley Legion; experience in PTV VisWalk, MassMotion or CAST is beneficial. Complementary software skills (Pathfinder, VISSIM, S‑Paramics, AIMSUM, ArcGIS, Power BI, coding in any language) are a plus but not essential.
- Experience completing pedestrian modelling projects to a high standard with an understanding of client/project goals and how your work achieved them.
- Some experience in project management tasks (estimating work, budget and time, ensuring on‑time and on‑budget delivery).
Key Skills And Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a numerate, transport or planning discipline (e.g. geography).
- Good knowledge of pedestrian planning guidance (LUL Station Planning guidance, The Green Guide, Network Rail Station Capacity Planning Design Manual) and static capacity assessment techniques (e.g. PCL).
- Communication skills – able to present ideas to non‑technical audiences via written reports, technical meetings and formal presentations.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking ability to interpret numerical results.
- Appreciation of commercial project delivery (H&S, programmes, risks, issues, resourcing, budgets).
- Experience in transport planning within a commercial environment is beneficial, e.g. supporting Development Planning applications or knowledge of Airports, Sports/Event Management sectors.
