Managing Consultant – Energy Networks & Energy Systems
In this role you will lead high-impact projects, manage small teams, and support the growth of our electricity networks and energy systems offering. You will provide strategic and technical advice to clients on electricity networks, markets, and decarbonisation, combine technical expertise with strong client engagement and commercial awareness, and play an active role in business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of complex projects, managing small teams and ensuring high-quality outputs.
- Provide strategic and technical advice to clients on electricity networks, markets, and decarbonisation.
- Combine technical expertise with strong client engagement and commercial awareness.
- Play an active role in business development, including shaping opportunities and winning work.
- Engage clients effectively, acting as a trusted point of contact and communicating complex technical findings clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- Drive business development, contributing to and leading proposals, identifying new opportunities, and supporting growth of client relationships.
- Oversee technical analysis, including research, market assessment, and techno-economic modelling, ensuring rigour and consistency.
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in the energy sector with a focus on electricity networks and/or electricity markets (gained in consultancy, industry, or a regulatory environment).
- Demonstrated experience managing projects and leading small teams.
- Proven track record of contributing to or leading work that won business and business-development activities.
- Strong client-facing skills, including experience leading discussions and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., engineering, physical sciences, economics).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Clear commitment to sustainability and the energy transition.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modelling tools and/or programming (e.g., Python).
- Electrical engineering background or experience with power system analysis tools.
- Broader energy systems experience (e.g., hydrogen, heat, flexibility, whole-system analysis).
