Midweight Designer

Company: LEON Restaurants
Apply for the Midweight Designer
Location: London
Job Description:

The opportunity

LEON is at a genuinely exciting moment. Founder John Vincent recently bought the brand back with a clear mission: to rebuild LEON as the most beautiful fast food brand in the world. This is a rare chance to join a small, passionate design team and have your work seen by millions of people, across every restaurant, every menu, every bag, every box.

You’ll work closely with John and the marketing team, getting stuck into the full breadth of LEON’s visual world and playing a real part in shaping what the brand looks and feels like next.

What you’ll be doing

Day to day you’ll be producing work across brand, print, packaging, in-store and POS. That means menu boards, seasonal campaigns, new restaurant graphics, packaging updates, promotional materials and everything in between. No two weeks look the same.

You’ll be a brand guardian, helping to ensure LEON’s bold, warm and distinctive visual identity stays consistent and gets better over time. You’ll work fast, think carefully and take real pride in the details.

What we’re looking for

You might be junior or midweight. What matters more than years of experience is the quality and range of your portfolio. We’d love to see branding work, print projects and anything that shows you understand how design functions in the real world, not just on a screen.

On the tools side, you’ll need to be confident in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Figma, After Effects or Premiere Pro would be a bonus.

Beyond skills, we’re looking for a sunny, kind person who genuinely loves great design and cares about the work. Someone who gets excited about a well-crafted menu board as much as a big brand moment.

About LEON

LEON was founded in 2004 with a simple idea: that food that’s good for you should also taste great, look beautiful and make you feel good. The brand sits in a very specific place visually: joyous, natural, artisan, timeless. Not arts & crafts, not Americana, not retro for the sake of it. Getting that balance right takes real sensitivity and craft. The brand has always believed that design isn’t decoration, it’s central to everything. From the typography on a menu to the graphics on a restaurant wall, it all matters. With John back at the helm and a renewed focus on quality and craft, this is a special time to be part of it.

Every time we design something at LEON, we ask ourselves: is it joyous and full of sun? Does it look natural? Is there an element of artisan and beauty? Is it timeless, rather than retro? Is it crafted with precision and attention to detail?

And equally important is knowing what LEON is not. The brand avoids anything that feels too arts & crafts or scrapbook, too home brew, too ‘ye olde’, using fake typewriter or handwriting fonts, scrolls, Americana, fairground, northern-European or vintage/retro. Getting that distinction right, between timeless warmth and pastiche, is at the heart of what makes LEON’s design so distinctive.

Task:

In addition, we’d like you to complete a short design task. Please create a sticker for a LEON Aioli Chicken box, along with a corresponding promotional poster. This is a chance for us to see how you think visually, how you interpret the LEON brand, and how you apply it across different formats.

There’s no expectation for this to be fully polished or production-ready – we’re more interested in your ideas, your craft and your attention to detail. Please include your designs alongside your application.
