Job Summary
Support Worker with a passion for delivering outstanding care. Work 42 hours a week (12‑hour shifts, day and night). The role is based at Cygnet Appletree, near Durham, a mental health hospital for women with services such as Pippin Ward (PICU) and Bramley Ward (intensive support for personality disorder and complex mental health needs).
Responsibilities
- Support the day‑to‑day running of the service.
- Ensure duties are allocated effectively and safely.
- Offer enhanced care with a flexible learning approach for all people in care.
- Provide guidance and encouragement through physical and emotional support.
- Learn about individuals’ specific needs and provide help in the most appropriate way.
- Assist with medical and welfare needs and report as required.
- Safeguard and maintain a safe, clean environment for all.
Person Specification & Requirements
- Must be genuinely driven with a desire to make a real difference in people’s lives.
- Excellent communicator and good team player.
- Sensitive and intuitive, with the energy required to provide a trusting, stimulating and varied environment.
- Passionate about empowering and supporting service‑user independence.
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Pay & Working Pattern
Salary: £23,670 to £23,670 a year (permanent, full‑time). Working pattern: 42 hours per week across 12‑hour shifts, both day and night. Pay review follows probation: £13.15 per hour, post‑probation £13.45 per hour, and £13.70 per hour after 18 months.
Other Information
