We are currently recruiting for a Care and Support Worker to join our client North Yorkshire Council in Northallerton.
Job Role
We are currently recruiting experienced and compassionate Support Workers to provide 2:1 care and support for a young person during a temporary placement in Northallerton. This role requires individuals who are confident supporting children and young people who may experience emotional dysregulation and who can provide a calm, safe, and structured environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality 2:1 support in a safe and nurturing environment
- Support the young person with daily routines, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in activities
- Escort and transport the young person to and from school (taxi transport provided to school)
- Administer medication in line with training and care plans
- Promote safety by ensuring potentially harmful items are stored securely
- Encourage positive engagement through activities and interests
- Maintain professional boundaries while building positive and respectful relationships
- Accurately record and report observations, incidents, and daily updates
Working hours
07:00 – 23:00
Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviours or emotional dysregulation
- TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) training is essential
- At least one staff member on shift must hold:
- A full clean UK driving licence
- Access to a vehicle
- Medication training required
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Ability to work within safeguarding and risk management procedures
