Youth Support & Mental Health Worker

Location: Caerphilly

Hours: 8:30am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday

Pay: £100 per day via PAYEE

Contract: Full-time, long-term

Start Date: 7th of September 2026

  • Team Teach training provided during half‑term

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with mental health needs, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and additional learning needs (ALN / SEN)
  • Support classroom staff with behaviour management strategies
  • Help pupils build confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
  • Offer firm but fair guidance, setting clear boundaries with empathy

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience is desirable but not essential. A background in mental health or wellbeing support, youth work, care or residential care, healthcare or support roles, or sports coaching or mentoring.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Willingness to complete required training
  • No formal qualifications required – ideal for those new to education

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply – support provided)
  • EWC registration (guidance provided)
  • Two professional references
  • Ability to travel within the Caerphilly area
