Pharmacy Technician – Cromwell Hospital, 164-178 Cromwell Road, Kensington SW5 0TU. Full time, 37.5 hours per week; permanent; salary competitive.
About the Role
As a key member of the Pharmacy Team you will assist in the provision of a comprehensive pharmacy service that consistently meets the needs of all service users. You will contribute to the efficient day‑to‑day running of the dispensary, working under the supervision of a Senior Pharmacy Technician and receiving support from a pharmacist. The pharmacy is open Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 8 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. Shifts are rostered weekly to cover the current opening hours and may change if opening hours are extended.
Key Responsibilities
- Price and dispense out‑patient prescriptions in accordance with the law and hospital procedures, ensuring all checking procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Participate in patient counselling and department counter service as appropriate.
- Sell ‘Pharmacy only’ and GSL medicines to patients, using appropriate questioning to ensure medicines are used appropriately, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist in accordance with Royal Pharmaceutical Society guidelines for licensed retail pharmacies.
- Maintain and store prescription documentation in accordance with the law.
- Post all charges appropriately to assist in the delivery of the hospital’s business goals.
- Participate in the stock distribution function of the technician team: liaise with ward and department managers to ensure ward stocks are kept at suitable levels, that drugs are stored correctly, that stock rotation and expiry dates are checked, and that the efficient functioning of Pyxis on designated wards is maintained as appropriate.
Key Skills / Qualifications
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC.
- NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy services or B/Tec Pharmaceutical sciences.
- Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy.
