Band 3 Community Healthcare Assistant vacancy for Poole North District Nursing service.
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual with good communication skills and a passion for caring for patients in their own homes.
Experience of clinical work in the community is desirable but training will be offered to the successful applicant.
There is an expectation that the successful candidate will undertake our in‑house development programme for extended skills which will involve insulin administration, administration of other injectables and catheterisation.
Full‑time and part‑time hours are available. The post holder may be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including Bank Holidays, pro‑rata, and may be required to cover some weekends.

Main duties of the job
Under the supervision and support from the team you will be required to visit patients in their own homes providing clinical care, including wound care, phlebotomy and extended skills once proficient.
To undertake care you will follow the instructions of the team leader or nominated deputy according to the needs of the patients as identified on the care plan, providing evidence‑based, high‑quality, holistic nursing care for patients in their own homes and care homes.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
Access to a car with a valid driving licence is essential for this role. Subject to the provisions of the Equality Act, you must be able to travel using your own vehicle on Trust business.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience of clinical work in the community is desirable.
- Willing and able to apply existing experience to community and gain necessary skills.
- Willingness to undertake further training as identified to meet the needs of the service, including Trust Band 3 Extended Skills programme and Care Certificate.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Desire to work in the primary care setting.
- Ability to work alone.
- Community or acute hospital experience.
- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to a standard which enables the post holder to carry out the full range of duties effectively.

Remuneration and Work Pattern
Salary: £25,760 to £27,476 a year, pro‑rata for part‑time.
Contract: Permanent.
Working pattern: Full‑time or part‑time.
