Healthcare Assistant (Bank)

Overview

The role is a bank position on an “as and when required” basis, providing cover for existing staff during busy periods and annual leave. You will support the Biometry department staff.

Duties Of This Role Include

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels after training.
• Support basic clinical procedures including wound care setup, catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.

Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria

• Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and raise concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: £12.79 per hour.
