Overview
Working under the leadership and guidance of UEA and GWH, the post holder will be responsible for completing a LEVEL 4 certificate in Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic, progressive team and will experience a wide range of sectors within the hospital setting. The role includes in‑depth, practical on‑the‑job training, online remote learning, regional study days, and 20% off‑the‑job hours (OTJH) with expectations for significant self‑directed study. Upon completion, the post holder will be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacy technician.
Responsibilities
- Rotate through all sections of the pharmacy department (Dispensary, Procurement and Distribution, and Clinical services) to achieve competencies.
- Participate in audits to meet Trust standards.
- Undertake short external placements to visit and understand different roles within the Pharmacy sector.
- Engage in practical on‑the‑job training, online remote learning, and regional study days under the close instruction and supervision of an Educational Supervisor (ES).
- Complete 20% off‑the‑job hours (OTJH) and undertake significant self‑directed study.
- Work collaboratively within a supportive inpatient pharmacy department.
- Upon successful completion, be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacy technician.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 GCSEs with grades A/C (new grades 9‑4) or equivalent.
- Flexible approach to work, good time‑management skills, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
