Hours
Monday to Friday 8am-8pm. One Saturday per month: 9am-2pm
Role Overview
Provide and maintain efficient administrative and reception services for the Radiology Department, ensuring a high quality service to patients, staff and consultants. Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, showing flexibility of shared tasks to deliver the best quality service in a pleasant environment for both staff and patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all customers are dealt with professionally and queries handled efficiently over telephone and email
- Take bookings for diagnostic imaging examinations and give patients precise and accurate preparation instructions
- Take and give accurate information over the telephone and provide an efficient telephone manner
- Advise the Administration Lead of any problems within the department and handle minor complaints with immediate action and thorough follow‑up
- Maintain and develop effective booking, information, reporting and filing systems on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
- Check general area/CT/MRI charges for the previous day, adding issues on Compucare for inpatients
- Check bookings scheduled for the following day and obtain request forms to ensure an efficient patient journey
- Create and maintain good working relationships with all members of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging, liaising regularly with the Administration Manager to form a cohesive team
- Promote good relations with referring clinicians, other hospital departments and outside organisations to ensure the reputation of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Cromwell Hospital is upheld
Key Skills / Qualifications
- Experience in administration within a healthcare environment
- Experience within radiology desirable
- Good communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent telephone manner
- Articulate and polite
- Organisational skills – meeting deadlines and prioritising workloads
- Confident and able to work under pressure
- Natural ability to empathise with patients and demonstrate genuine care
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work independently and autonomously
