Job overview

A great opportunity to work as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the Community Adult Eating Disorder Service.

We use the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) to structure assessments, 1:1 and group interventions. The role requires maintaining an occupational focus and advocating the value of activity in recovery.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide Occupational Therapy provision and manage a caseload of service users with complex mental health needs.
  • Develop collaborative intervention plans with service users and carers, ensuring regular reviews to monitor progress.
  • Consider carer and family needs and involve them in care planning where appropriate.
  • Act as Lead Professional when required.
  • Deliver evidence‑based Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions.
  • Work as a member of the Multi‑disciplinary Team to deliver high‑quality individualized care that promotes recovery, safety, wellbeing and independence.
  • Coordinate treatment planning, reviews and discharge planning.
  • Provide compassionate care based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.
  • Incorporate a client‑centred philosophy into clinical practice and collaborative care.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Recognised Occupational therapy degree/qualification.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Evidence of post‑registration training in OT interventions relevant to the post.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Awareness of professional accountability, HCPC, RCOT standards and local/national initiatives.
  • Post‑registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
  • Experience of collaborative working across agencies and professional disciplines.
  • Ability to manage a clinical caseload flexibly.
  • Experience working within a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Experience of providing Occupational Therapy services.
  • Awareness of equal opportunities legislation and policies.
  • Understanding of challenging behaviours.
  • Coordinating and supporting staff in the day‑to‑day provision of clinical services.

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to carry out comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex needs.
  • Risk assessment, risk management and safety planning skills.
  • Understanding of effective and appropriate treatment options and evidence‑based clinical approaches.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Clinical leadership and training & induction of staff.
  • Teaching and presentation skills.
