Specialist Behaviour Support Worker
We’d like you to join us as a Specialist Behaviour Support Worker, services based in Caterham and Croydon.
Role Purpose
The main purpose of this role is to provide a high quality, reliable, supportive service, in line with the individual’s personalised Support Plan. It promotes independence, choice and access to all that their community offers, and requires participation in a team approach, maintaining positive and constructive working relationships for the individual’s benefit.
Schedule & Salary
- Part‑time hours: 36 hours per week.
- Weekend working is required and will be based on service needs.
- Waking nights.
- £29,291.33 (FTE) per annum pro rata.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals with complex communication needs, autism, and a range of physical and learning disabilities (neurodiversity), including those with complex behaviour needs.
- Assess factors that impact the individual’s ability to communicate and express themselves.
- Work as part of a team to promote positive communication and personalised support, enabling individuals to achieve their goals and maximise quality of life.
- Assist with practical help for everyday tasks such as meal planning, shopping, and meal preparation.
- Deal with correspondence (mail).
- Help clients maintain independence both within and outside their homes.
- Help individuals with complex communication needs to access services such as GP surgeries, shops and leisure facilities.
- Provide personal care in line with their support plan.
- Manage medication administration.
- Provide support using restrictive interventions when trained, and manage PEG and stoma care when trained.
Requirements
- Desirable: 3 years experience in the Health and Social Care sector.
- Essential: Minimum of 1 year experience working with adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health and behaviours of concern.
- Desirable: Level 3 Health and Social Care Qualifications.
- Minimum Level 2 required.
- Desirable: Valid UK driving licence.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Great communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual.
