Job overview
We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our administrative team and support the coordination and scheduling of an expanded programme of work.
Responsibilities
- Support the administration and scheduling of day case, inpatient and outpatient activity for the Gastroenterology Service.
- Work closely with the Administrative and Clerical team.
- Act as the point of contact for all administrative and clerical issues relating to a patient’s care pathway.
- Track and support patients from referral to treatment and/or discharge.
- Manage and support queries from patients, clinicians and fellow staff.
- Use telephone effectively and maintain high standards of customer service.
- Work at both hospital sites each week.
Person specification
Knowledge
- Computer literate, with experience of using a keyboard
- Knowledge of databases, spreadsheets e.g. PAS, Excel or similar applications
- Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection principles
- Knowledge of health and safety
- Understanding of principles of equality and diversity
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes
Qualifications
- Good general education with GCSE or equivalent in English at grade C or above.
- NVQ or working towards NVQ or equivalent
Experience
- Experience of using a full range of IT/Patient administration systems
- Experience working with DictateIT3, iPM, iCM, iFIT
- Experience working in a similar patient administration role in a hospital/health care setting

- Knowledge & awareness of diversity and human rights as appropriate to your role
- Ability to communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support as appropriate to your role.
- Ability to understand an individual’s communication, physical & emotional needs; recognise their needs and preferences
