Overview
Prison Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Berwyn, a Welsh speaking prison. The role supports the day‑to‑day running of the facility, carrying out a mix of security, administrative, and operational tasks to keep the prison running smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct security and searches at the gate.
- Manage deliveries and supervise visitors.
- Monitor phone calls and CCTV activity.
- Carry out desk duties and physical tasks such as lifting, carrying and escorting vehicles across the prison grounds.
- Work a variety of shifts, including weekend and night shifts, to maintain operational continuity.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Full, valid UK driving licence with the D1 vehicle category (allows driving vehicles with no more than 16 passenger seats, a maximum length of 8 metres, and a trailer up to 750kg).
- Strong communication skills, with ability to communicate confidently in Welsh considered essential.
- Good judgement, common sense and a calm, professional attitude under pressure.
- Team player who can work in a fast‑paced environment.
