About the Role
The Gentleman suffers from poor mental health and is moving into his own tenancy and beginning an exciting new chapter towards independent living. We’re looking for a kind, patient, and reliable Support Worker to help him feel safe, supported, and confident in his own home.This role is about encouragement, reassurance, and helping him to take pride in himself and his surroundings, while offering emotional support and keeping an eye on his wellbeing.What You’ll Be DoingSupporting Him with his transition to independent livingHelping him maintain his home, including light household chores and changing bed linenEncouraging and supporting good personal hygieneMotivating him to take pride in his home and personal spaceEncouraging movement, hobbies, and interests where possibleProviding emotional support and companionshipEnsuring he is safe and well during support visitsReporting any concerns to family members and the social worker when neededEssential CriteriaA caring, friendly, and patient natureAbility to encourage independence while offering appropriate supportGood communication and observation skillsReliable and trustworthyWillingness to work as part of a wider support networkMust be eligible for PVG membership (or willing to apply)Desirable CriteriaPrevious experience in a support worker, care, or similar roleUnderstanding of supporting someone in their own homeInterest in encouraging hobbies, activities, and wellbeingPVG RequirementThis role requires membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Support will be provided to apply if you are not already a member.
