NHS Co-ordinator and Support Medical Secretary

Wolverhampton Hospital | 1 Year Fixed Term (Maternity Cover) | Part Time

Salary depends on experience. 34 hours per week (days and times are negotiable).

You will be a highly organised and detail‑oriented NHS Co‑ordinator & Support Medical Secretary. The role involves ensuring the effective management of NHS patient pathways while providing high‑quality administrative and secretarial support to clinical staff. You will maintain data accuracy, monitor performance against NHS targets, and support the smooth day‑to‑day running of the department.

NHS Co‑ordination Duties

  • Perform regular data cleansing to ensure accuracy of patient records
  • Monitor NHS patient pathways, ensuring compliance with RTT targets and key performance indicators
  • Identify, track, and report waiting time breaches, escalating risks to colleagues and management
  • Produce and submit weekly and monthly NHS performance reports
  • Prepare accurate data submissions for the local ICB
  • Liaise with internal departments to resolve data discrepancies and pathway issues
  • Support audits and ensure data quality standards are consistently met

Medical Secretary Support Duties

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to consultants
  • Type and manage clinical correspondence
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
  • Handle telephone, email, and face‑to‑face enquiries professionally
  • Arrange clinics, appointments and schedule patients for theatre

Key Skills & Experience

  • Experience working within an NHS or private healthcare environment
  • Strong understanding of NHS pathways, including RTT rules and waiting list management
  • Proven experience in data analysis, data cleansing, and reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Systems
  • Previous experience in an administrative or medical secretarial role
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict reporting deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of NHS systems and reporting requirements
  • Experience with electronic patient record systems
  • Familiarity with clinical terminology
  • Experience supporting audits or compliance processes
