Job Overview

An opportunity is available for a Craftsperson (Jointing) based in Birmingham. In this role you will be required to undertake Jointing techniques up to 66kV, including excavation, cable laying, reinstatement and fault location on LV cables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake jointing techniques up to 66kV, including excavation, cable laying, reinstatement and fault location on LV cables.
  • Work on your own initiative as part of a small team, making on‑spot decisions and working to tight deadlines.
  • Provide flexibility to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting its objectives.
  • Be mobile throughout the area and be prepared for standby duties.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade A*–C/4–9 GCSE in English and Maths, or Functional Skills Level qualification in both subjects (evidence required prior to appointment).
  • If not already attained, study for the relevant City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering and complete TAR (daily diary page completion, tasks, and reports).
  • Underground experience and excavation experience is desirable. Consideration will be given to applicants who do not possess all the skills required at present but have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training.
  • Subject to a satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required.

Training & Development

The successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.
