Overview
Industrial Mechanical Maintenance Technician — Permanent role – 36 core hours per week. Location: Chelmsford, Essex, with travel to sites across the Essex area. Mobile Worker – van and fuel card provided. Salary: up to £45,100 + (OTE of up to £13,000 in overtime/standby/Technician upskilling modules after training).
We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance and Reliability team, supporting sites across the Essex area. You will work on cutting‑edge equipment, focusing on fault diagnosis and preventative and proactive maintenance to improve plant performance, availability, and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Perform fault diagnosis, reactive breakdown repair, and planned maintenance to a broad asset base.
- Read and fault-find from mechanical drawings, identify root causes, and repair or replace faulty components.
- Contribute to maintenance programs covering pumping and control systems, chemical dosing, and condition-based maintenance including vibration analysis and ultrasonic lubrication.
- Operate in a fully mobile role with a company van and equipment provided; start and finish days from home.
- Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota with training and support; receive competitive payments for standby duties, callouts, extra hours, and specialist modules.
- Commit to health and safety aligned with the company culture.
About You
- Time-served Mechanical Technician, educated to at least ONC/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in maintenance environments, including reactive breakdowns and planned maintenance; able to manage workload with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, diagnose issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Positive, can-do attitude with willingness to learn and adapt to new ways of working; hands-on, practical approach.
- Good communication, teamwork, and a strong commitment to Health and Safety (aligned with the environment).
- Full UK manual driving licence is essential.
