A well-established UK business operating across multiple industrial and environmental sectors is looking to recruit an experienced HGV Technician / Mechanic to join its busy transport and engineering team. The Role
Working within a busy workshop environment, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of HGVs, trucks, trailers, and associated transport equipment to ensure maximum vehicle uptime and compliance standards are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Servicing, maintaining, and repairing HGV trucks and trailers
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs efficiently
- Conducting vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance
- Completing pre-MOT inspections in line with DVSA standards
- Supporting the maintenance of site transport and ancillary equipment
- Accurately completing maintenance records and workshop paperwork
- Ensuring high standards of workshop housekeeping and health & safety compliance
- Assisting with breakdown support and ad-hoc maintenance tasks where required
About You
- Qualified HGV Technician / Mechanic with a recognised qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- Previous experience servicing and repairing HGVs and trailers
- Strong mechanical diagnostic and fault‑finding skills
- Good understanding of DVSA regulations and workshop safety procedures
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Full UK Driving Licence required
- Class 1 (C+E) licence advantageous but not essential
