Automotive Technician – Shift (Mechanical & Engine Testing)
Location: Hazelwood, Derbyshire (DE56 4AN)
Job Type: Full‑time | On‑site
Shift + Hours: 4 days on / 4 days off rotating shift (2 day shifts followed by 2 night shifts, 12‑hour shifts, approx. 6am–6pm / 6pm–6am)

How You’ll Make An Impact
- Conduct and monitor fired engine, driveline, and industrial tests in line with defined procedures.
- Operate test control systems to monitor data and adjust operating parameters as required.
- Build, install, de‑rig, and strip engines, gearboxes, axles, and other mechanical test components.
- Initiate and support repairs to test installations to ensure continuous operation.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support implementation of enhancements.
- Promote and comply with all Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification (or equivalent) with proven relevant experience.
- Proven hands‑on experience with automotive fault‑finding techniques.
- Experience with engine strip‑down, repair, or rebuild activities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- PC literacy, including use of standard office and data systems.
- Flexibility and willingness to work rotating day and night shifts in a 24/7 operation.
Preferred Qualifications That Drive You Forward
- Previous experience working in an engine test cell, mechanical testing, or laboratory environment.
- Prior experience in a shift‑based operational role.
