Automotive Technician – Shift (Mechanical & Engine Testing)

Location: Hazelwood, Derbyshire (DE56 4AN)

Job Type: Full‑time | On‑site

Shift + Hours: 4 days on / 4 days off rotating shift (2 day shifts followed by 2 night shifts, 12‑hour shifts, approx. 6am–6pm / 6pm–6am)

Salary Range: Competitive salary + shift allowance + comprehensive benefits package

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Conduct and monitor fired engine, driveline, and industrial tests in line with defined procedures.
  • Operate test control systems to monitor data and adjust operating parameters as required.
  • Build, install, de‑rig, and strip engines, gearboxes, axles, and other mechanical test components.
  • Initiate and support repairs to test installations to ensure continuous operation.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support implementation of enhancements.
  • Promote and comply with all Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification (or equivalent) with proven relevant experience.
  • Proven hands‑on experience with automotive fault‑finding techniques.
  • Experience with engine strip‑down, repair, or rebuild activities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • PC literacy, including use of standard office and data systems.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work rotating day and night shifts in a 24/7 operation.

Preferred Qualifications That Drive You Forward

  • Previous experience working in an engine test cell, mechanical testing, or laboratory environment.
  • Prior experience in a shift‑based operational role.
