Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health BoardThe Medical Engineering (EBME) Team supports all users of medical equipment in the acute and community hospitals within the Health Board, ensuring that equipment is always safe for use and performs as expected, maintaining the safety of both the users and our patients.

Previous experience with medical equipment is desirable but not essential if you have extensive experience repairing and maintaining complex electronic equipment. Support and training are offered to ensure excellent career prospects. The successful candidate will be appraised on a yearly basis, with a view to developing their knowledge and skills where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

  • The repair, calibration, planned maintenance and commissioning of medical equipment.
  • Provide advice and support to users of medical equipment on functions and maintenance of devices.
  • Assist in evaluation of maintenance requirements, investigation of incidents and trial of equipment.
  • Requisition spares and materials, accept deliveries of materials and equipment and book them in following set procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge and keep up to date with technical developments.
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours to meet the needs of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

  • Professional electronics knowledge to degree level or HNC/HND plus short courses or equivalent training and experience.
  • Equivalent experience in an electronics repair role.
  • Served an electronics‑based apprenticeship.

Experience

  • Experience of electronic instrumentation fault diagnosis and repair on industrial or medical equipment.
  • Experience of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Experience of mentoring trainees and/or students.
  • Working within clinical environments.
