About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Highways Inspector to join the Highways Team. You will report to the Senior Engineer and work as part of a busy, friendly team. You will help ensure the Council fulfils its duties as a local highways authority under the Highways Act 1980, and in accordance with our Highways Maintenance Policy. As a Highways Inspector you will be responsible for the delivery and maintenance of our existing highways infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled highways safety inspections on foot.
- Inspect and gather information about the conditions of the Highways network.
- Be responsible for your own designated area, reporting on defects in the Public Highway.
- Arrange repairs for network safety and serviceability.
Qualifications
- Self‑motivated individual with excellent observation skills and conscientiousness.
- Good time‑management skills, able to work on own initiative and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure and be flexible.
- Customer‑facing experience and ability to liaise with customers in a kind and friendly manner within a diverse community.
