Level 4 Apprenticeship – in Electrical Engineering

Start your engineering career with real impact from day one. Clarke Energy is looking for a motivated and ambitious Apprentice Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a career in a fast‑growing sector, working on cutting‑edge power generation technologies including Energy Storage, Hydrogen, Solar, Wind, Microgrids, Gas‑Powered Generation and CHP plants. What You’ll Be Doing

From day one, you’ll be part of live engineering projects—learning, contributing, and developing your skills through hands‑on experience and structured study. During your apprenticeship, you will:

  • Develop skills across a wide range of exciting engineering projects.
  • Learn about full project lifecycles and support your team throughout each stage.
  • Use industry‑standard design software and tools.
  • Attend client meetings and help build strong customer relationships.
  • Study at Waterside College (St Helens) on block release while working towards your Level 4 in Electrical Engineering.
  • Gain practical experience that prepares you for a full Electrical Engineer role.

Once Qualified

Once qualified, you will:

  • Translate conceptual designs into detailed engineering solutions.
  • Carry out Power System Studies (Load Flow, Fault Analysis, Protection Studies, Harmonic Assessments, and more).
  • Support tender preparation and conceptual design during the sales phase.
  • Work closely with Mechanical Design Engineers and CAD teams.
  • Assist Project Managers during installation, commissioning, and testing.
  • Participate in HAZOP and risk assessment studies.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong IT and Microsoft Office skills
  • Proficiency in Power Systems Analysis tools
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Project management capability
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork
  • Ability to work independently and manage your workload
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For

  • 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above), including Maths, English, and at least one Science
  • Full UK/EU driving licence (or working towards one during the apprenticeship)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Ideally based in the North West (Head Office: Knowsley)
  • Someone trustworthy, reliable, proactive, and eager to learn
