Sheet Metal Worker
Salary: up to £38,662 per annum + shift allowance.
Location: Glasgow.
We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Sheet Metal Worker. The role will be based in Glasgow and will require the successful candidate to be on site full time working a varied shift pattern (please see details below).

Working as part of the Sheet Metal Worker team, you will deliver upgrades, refurbishments, and new installations across sites, working in groups of 6-12. A qualified Sheet Metal Worker contributes to high‑quality HVAC and furniture manufacture, supported by SVQ3 Marine Engineering, NC/HNC Fabrication and Welding and post‑apprenticeship industrial experience.
Shift Patterns
- Day Shift: Monday‑Thursday 7:00am‑4:30pm
- Night Shift: Monday‑Thursday 8:30pm‑6:00am (includes 33% shift allowance)
- Weekend Shift: Friday‑Sunday 7:00am‑7:30pm (includes 33% shift allowance)
Main Responsibilities
- Manufacture and install high quality sheet metal components, including ventilation systems and internal fittings.
- Interpret engineering drawings to measure, cut, shape and assemble materials using a range of hand and power tools.
- Produce accurate, well finished work that meets required standards and quality expectations.
- Apply practical problem‑solving skills to resolve issues during manufacturing and installation, ensuring correct fit and safe completion.
- Work collaboratively within a skilled team to maintain a safe environment and deliver reliable installations that keep projects on track.

About You
- Hold a recognised Modern Apprenticeship, Trade Papers, or SVQ/NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering or technical discipline.
- Previous experience gained within construction, manufacturing, marine, defence, or similar engineering environments.
- Good understanding of SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) and COSHH requirements, with the ability to follow safe systems of work and site safety procedures.
- Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings and technical documentation to accurately measure, cut, shape, and assemble components.
- Strong practical engineering and craftsmanship skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Capable of producing high-quality work within regulated and safety-critical environments.
- You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance, and therefore must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years.
