Slinger & Traffic Marshall – Exeter
Commercial – Accommodation new build
An excellent opportunity to start a long‑term agency position overseeing logistics on a new build near Exeter city centre. To manage traffic and pedestrian flow around the grounds of a very narrow commercial new build. You will need to be able to communicate well to pedestrians and the site team. As well as assist the pedestrian crane operator when needed with slinging and difficult lifts. Demand in duties between the 2 roles will vary as the project goes on. The project is expected to run for 18 months.
Day to day:
- Direct crane or lifting operations using hand signals or radio communication.
- Ensure loads are correctly secured and balanced prior to lifting.
- Coordinate with crane operator to ensure safe movement of loads around the site.
- Maintain clear exclusion zones around lifting areas.
- Report unsafe conditions or damaged lifting equipment immediately.
- Follow lift plans and ensure compliance with site and legal safety regulations.
- Direct vehicle movements safely, especially reversing or manoeuvring in tight areas.
- Manage entry and exit of delivery vehicles on site in coordination with site management.
- Maintain safe pedestrian routes and prevent unauthorized access to vehicle movement areas.
- Use standard hand signals and/or radios to communicate with the team.
- Control traffic flow around the site to minimize congestion and hazards.
- Check vehicles for proper loading, securing, and compliance with site safety requirements.
- Ensure high-visibility signage and barriers are in place where necessary.
Requirements:
- An NPORS or CPCS traffic marshal ticket (Tickets from other training providers may be considered)
- CPCS or NPORS slinger signaler ticket.
- You must have previous experience to be eligible for this role.
- Good communication.
- Good timekeeping.
- Good at dealing with clients and general public.
- Able to work well within a team.
