Quality Control Technician (QCT)

Location: Ipswich

Contract Type: Perm – Full time

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conduct field and lab tests on concrete and aggregates (slump, compressive strength, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with ASTM, BS EN, and local standards.
  • Analyse data and produce detailed reports.
  • Inspect raw materials (cement, sand, limestone, admixtures) and monitor deliveries against specifications.
  • Guide junior technicians and review test results.
  • Maintain accurate logs, calibration records, and databases.
  • Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Follow safety protocols and regulatory standards; report near misses and ensure safe working practices.
  • Collaborate with contractors and quality managers; conduct site visits and sample collection.
  • Uphold the EDF Code of Conduct for Sizewell C, ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.
  • Liaise with contractors and internal teams to meet customer expectations.
  • Report defects or issues affecting product quality or safety; maintain site cleanliness, security and professional standards.
  • Support investigations into product issues and site practices; challenge unsafe or non‑compliant behaviours.
  • Transport test specimens as required.

What You’ll Need

  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental compliance.
  • Level 1 Award Training CSCS certification for construction sites.
  • Triple Bar Nuclear New Build qualification.
  • NVQ qualification in a relevant field.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
