UK – Maintenance Electrician – Carlisle 1
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Maintenance Electrician to join our Maintenance team in Carlisle. Due to recent investment within the factory, the Maintenance Department is undergoing a transformation as it prepares to maintain an all‑new, automated manufacturing process. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in a state‑of‑the‑art project which will drive the future of Pirelli UK.
Working Hours and Salary
The successful applicant will work 40 hours per week on a 3‑shift rotating pattern, Monday to Friday. Weekend working may be required. Basic salary will be £52,416 per annum. Alternatively, the position may be Monday to Friday, 08:00‑16:00, with basic salary £47,050 per annum.
Working within the Maintenance Department, and with the support and direction of the Maintenance Leadership Team, the Maintenance Electrician will ensure all equipment is operating to the required standards to ensure safe operation and to maintain production requirements and quality standards.
The objective is to improve the Safety, Quality and Overall Efficiency of the department, concentrating primarily on the maintenance aspects that can contribute to this improvement.
Main Duties
- The repair and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and components as required
- Fault finding of automated electrical systems, using PLC diagnostic skills
- Fault finding/diagnostics on Pirelli Network systems at machine level with support of the IT department
- Regular preventative maintenance testing of electrical systems, equipment and components
- Assist other electrical and mechanical team members to complete required maintenance work
- Ensure all electrical components in the area are functioning correctly
- Comply with all safety norms and regulations
- Complete all tasks as assigned by the supervisor
- Follow all standard operating procedures
- Attend relevant training and development activities
- Training and mentoring apprentices
Candidate Profile
Candidates must be comfortable working within a team environment where highly developed interpersonal skills are essential and where initiative is required to solve problems. Previous experience in a high volume modern manufacturing environment is desirable. Applicants must be time‑served.
Required Education and Professional Background
- Time‑served electrical engineer with appropriate technical qualifications
- HNC qualified or 3 years industrial experience
- 17th/18th Edition qualification would be preferred

- Sound technical knowledge of the processes and machinery
- Self‑motivated, focused and able to work on own initiative
- High level of resilience and able to work effectively under pressure
- Good organisation and IT skills
- Ability to read and understand electrical control drawings
- Knowledge of Siemens PLC control (Step7, TIA Portal)
- Knowledge of Siemens Sinamics drive control (S120, G120)
- Knowledge of PLC‑PLC, PLC to database communication, barcode scanning systems and other industrial communication systems desired
- Good knowledge of single and three‑phased systems
- Ability to diagnose AC/DC motors faults
