Job Overview

Senior Social Worker – Inverness West Urban Social Work team. This permanent, full‑time position (36 hours per week, effective 1 April 2026) will enable the right candidate to be part of a fully integrated, busy team that provides a multi‑disciplinary approach to assessing the needs of individuals, their families and carers. Applicants should be a qualified Social Worker with a minimum of two years post‑qualifying experience in Adult Care and a strong track record in collaborative working.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, advice, support and guidance to social workers and social care staff within the District Team to meet professional standards and service objectives.
  • Assist the Social Work Team Manager with duties and responsibilities.
  • Ensure delivery of services in accordance with legislation, policy, guidance and delegated responsibilities.
  • Maintain professional standards and uphold the values and behaviours expected of NHS Scotland staff.

Qualifications

  • Registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) on the Social Worker part of the Register.
  • Hold a qualification recognised by the SSSC as equivalent to the Diploma in Social Work (DipSW).
  • At least two years of post‑qualifying experience in Adult Care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information for Candidates

  • Effective from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis and the hourly rate will be increased to ensure pay remains unaffected.
