Assistant Technical Officer

We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Technical Officer who will be expected to work rostered shifts on all days of the week in all of the Trust’s decontamination facilities.

Role

  • Assist in ensuring that all products manufactured in the Trust’s decontamination facilities are fit for purpose and produced in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Contribute towards a safe working environment within the departments.
  • Work as part of a team and undertake duties as directed by the management team of the Trust’s decontamination facilities.
  • Work within all of the decontamination facilities within UCLH Foundation Trust.
  • Follow agreed Quality Procedures for the departments and follow instruction where appropriate.
  • Work in all areas of the decontamination facilities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Highlight and record any Non-Conformances with the department’s QMS to a senior member of staff.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Supervise staff in all areas of production and distribution to ensure standards are maintained and work quotas met within a controlled environment, that QMS is effectively operated and monitored in accordance with the Quality Manual and associated Policies and Procedures.
  • Be responsible for final product release.
  • Monitor technicians’ performance and compliance with dress code.
  • Decontaminate, replace or repair equipment for use in operating theatres and other clinical areas.
  • Supply products to specified areas in agreed quantities and to specified properties and cleanliness.
  • Inspect and assemble instruments according to the agreed specification and ensure by examination that products meet the required standard.
  • Maintain delivery schedules.
  • Provide customer service, visits and liaison.
  • Participate in on-call duties.
  • Ensure daily and weekly testing regime is carried out and adheres to regulatory standard.
  • Carry out stock audits to include pack sterility and ensure packs are in date.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • 5 GCSE’s / O Levels or ability to demonstrate equivalent.

Experience

  • Experience of producing quality products within a defined performance criteria.
  • Experience of working with the NHS.

Communication and Customer Care

  • Demonstrate awareness of importance of working as part of a team.
  • Work in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

  • Commitment to professional development.

Personal Qualities

  • Effective communicator both verbally and written.

Physical Effort (Lifting and handling requirements)

  • Experience of and the ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Experience and ability to carry out repetitive manual handling of loads exceeding 15kg.

Salary

£31,066 a year, per annum inclusive of HCAS.
