Senior Specialist Dietitian (Paediatric Allergy)

We are looking for an experienced Dietitian with existing paediatric allergy experience, to substantively join our dynamic and friendly paediatric allergy team here at UCLH in a 0.40wte post to cover a 24 months career break.
You should have strong leadership skills, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work effectively within teams and be able to manage your time effectively in a busy and exciting outpatient allergy service.
As part of our paediatric dietetics team, you will provide cover for colleagues, as appropriate, and benefit from supervision and support from a dedicated line manager.

Main duties of the job
The post holder should have specialist knowledge to confidently provide dietetic input for infants, children and young people with food allergies, attending our ever-expanding outpatient allergy service. You will provide an innovative, patient focused and evidence-based service, and as part of this role you will cover a mix of MDT clinics, Dietitian and CNS-led clinics and Dietitian-led clinics. We have weekly MDT meetings where we are able to discuss specific patients, but also to learn from each other and find way to constantly improve our service and make it the best it can be.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Four year degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
- HCPC registered (Dietitian)
- Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) or equivalent association
- Post registration training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
- Post graduate study in specialist area of dietetics e.g. PENG course, paediatric/renal modules
Experience
- Significant post registration clinical experience
- This must include at least one year experience in the specialist area of dietetics
- Knowledge & understanding of clinical governance and risk management and relevance to dietetics.
- Anthropometry skills
- Experience of conducting audit and/or research, including the ability to analyse and interpret statistics.
- Critical appraisal skills i.e., clinical and professional documents
- Involvement in relevant specialist interest group
- Experience in project management
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork
- Awareness of need for confidentiality and issues of consent
Personal and People Development
- Experience of training student dietitians/other HCPs
- Experience in the support and development of junior members of staff
- Teaching on degree (or higher level) / professional course

Specific Requirements
- To manage the physical effort of working between hospital sites, frequently moving up and down stairs, standing for long periods of time and carrying heavy folders
- To manage working in unpleasant conditions such as environments where there may be unpleasant sights, noises, smells and temperature fluctuations e.g., hospital wards.
- The postholder will need to be passed fit to perform full duties of the post, this will be determined through occupational health with any reasonable aids provided wherever possible
Communication
- Strong oral and written communication skills with people from a variety of backgrounds
- Presentation skills and ability to effectively work autonomously with individuals and groups.
