The Ophthalmology Consultant specialising in cornea is responsible for diagnosing and treating complex corneal and anterior segment conditions, performing specialised surgeries including corneal transplants and cataract procedures, and managing outpatient and surgical services.
The role also includes leading the ARC service, supporting urgent and emergency eye care pathways, supervising junior staff, and contributing to teaching, research, and service development within the department.

- Diagnose and manage complex corneal and anterior segment disorders.
- Perform specialised ophthalmic procedures.
- Lead, develop, and oversee the ARC service and associated patient pathways.
- Conduct outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, and ward-based care as required.
- Supervise, mentor, and teach junior medical staff and multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in audit, clinical governance, quality improvement, and research activities.
- Contribute to service development and the delivery of safe, effective patient care.
