Receptionist / Administrator – Manchester – Private Hospital – Permanent, Full‑time – 37.5 hours per week

£24,882 per annum plus excellent benefits

Spire Manchester Hospital is currently looking for an experienced Receptionist/Administrator to join their admin team on a permanent, full‑time basis.

Contract type: Permanent, Full‑time.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week. Varied shifts across Monday to Sunday from 6:30 am to 8:00 pm.

As a Receptionist, you will be responsible for an exemplary level of high customer service to all patients, consultants and hospital teams, meeting and striving to exceed all customers’ expectations, presenting a high standard of personal appearance together with total confidentiality in every aspect of work at all times. You will provide an efficient administrative service within the hospital, operating within established policies and procedures.

Duties and responsibilities (not limited)

  • Provide an efficient administrative service within the hospital, operating within established policies and procedures.
  • Welcoming, registering and directing patients, consultants and hospital teams in a proactive, warm, professional and caring manner to provide confidence and exceed customers’ expectations.
  • Admit patients to their rooms in accordance with hospital procedures, providing information as appropriate.
  • Process in-patient/out-patient charges, including accurate collection of credit card details both over the phone and face to face.
  • Support inpatient bookings by entering inpatient/day cases onto the computer system.
  • Maintain admission lists, including allocation of admissions and liaising with nursing staff as appropriate.
  • Handle admission/discharge of patients onto the computer system ensuring accuracy of all information.
  • Operate the hospital switchboard professionally and efficiently, ensuring all calls and inquiries are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Undertake various clerical duties including checking bed status reports, ordering and distributing newspapers, issuing badges for visitors, booking taxis.

Who we’re looking for

  • No formal qualifications required but must communicate with other staff and patients clearly and maintain a high standard of personal appearance.
  • Experience in a reception or similar customer-facing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Strong focus on delivering and exceeding customer expectations, with the ability to handle difficult situations.
  • Confident telephone manner and ability to communicate with a wide range of customers at all levels.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • IT literate and competent user of the MS Office suite of products.
