Job Overview

Retail Security Officer role to protect the Waitrose store, its people, and/or assets by providing security and excellent customer service through Mitie and Waitrose key values.

Payrate: £16.00 per hour. Breaks paid. Guaranteed number of hours per week, permanent location.

Main Duties

  • Operations: Be aware of and ensure compliance with all policies and relevant legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK Law and Guidance bodies.
  • Fully engage with National Operations Centre (NOC) and Mitie management and use of all technology provided, including body cams and mobile devices to aid in the reporting of all incidents.
  • Fully and satisfactorily complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI’s).
  • Proactively review the published Assignment Instructions and familiarise yourself with changes to suggest amendments that improve service.
  • To be compliant with Industry and Statutory Legislation (you are required to obtain a front-line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision), which must be worn at all times whilst carrying out duties. Additional courses may be contractually required.
  • Work in a systematic, methodical and orderly way.

Training

  • Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.
  • Undertake training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Security Account Manager.
  • Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop knowledge through continual professional development.
  • Renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.

Security and Health & Safety

  • Look out for and immediately report Health & Safety hazards on site.
  • Stay alert to threats or changes within the work environment and take action to reduce disruption, loss or damage.
  • Maintain professional conduct in difficult situations and with challenging customers.
  • Complete accurate incident notebooks promptly for the Incident Report process.
  • Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
  • Ensure check calls are carried out at the allocated time slot as per Assignment Instructions (AI’s).
  • Call emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.
